I have never heard of Ecopipam, but I just read about it and I think anyone considering it should be extremely cautious. Its a synthetic benzazepine, which is a category of drug well known in treating serious mental health diseases like seizures, panic attacks, depression, bipolar disorder etc. Its a selective dopanine D1/D5 receptor antagonist, which means it is fundamentally messing with your neural chemistry and is probably habit forming and likely to have off target effects (ie depression, anxiety, flat affect, etc). If your stutter is ruining your life and anything is better than having one maybe something like this could help. If not, I think benzazepine derivatives have the potential to ruin your life much more than most stutters will - particularly with long term use. It looks like the clinical trial using this drug for tourettes is scheduled for final data collection for primary outcomes sometime this month, which ought to give a much better sense of what the risks are with short term (~1 year) use.
