Any nurses, doctors, pre-health professionals on here that failed their clinical checkouts due to their stuttering? For my health programs lab checkouts, we pick a random faced-down scenario and are asked to perform it within X mins. Short story, I failed because I had a few speech blocks which worsen because of the being timed and having to "speak against the clock". Additionally, I got marked off for poor patient instructions due to using "word substitutions" like most of us stutterers do when we reach a block. I got marked off for other things that was under my control like not appropriately placing the patient but it is just the unfairness of being marked off points for something that is out of our control. I have to use a retake for this and in my program you get booted out after X amount of retakes. I requested for additional time based on my "condition" and was denied. My performance wasn't a representation of my knowledge at all. I have the knowledge, but was overwhelmed during the timed checkouts. Any nurses, doctors, pre-health professionals that dealt with something similar and preserved?
