I've had a similar childhood as yours. I know how you feel. People think we stutter just because we're nervous. The truth that no one else sees is that anything that reminds us of that trauma does not only worsen our mental health, but also affects our speech. I've been feeling pretty bad lately because of it, hoping for someone to like me regardless of how I talk. I'll go to therapy in a month, as I also believe I might be going through depression and have social anxiety. I recommend you do the same if you need it. I'm sure it'll help, I'm hopeful but also nervous. Unfortunately, my abuser is still with me, but that won't stop me from self-improvement. You can do this.
