"... and you would come across as an asshole to me..." That's fair. I've never reacted like this to someone I've met. I've only met a handful of people who stutter in my life. The reaction has always come from seeing things online or reading things online. I wouldn't say I assume how people feel when they stutter. I suppose it depends on how they carry themselves. If they shut down after stuttering, or if they carry on with confidence etc. My reaction comes from when someone responds to their own stutter in a similar way to what I do. I can tell when someone is embarrassed or when they dislike that they just stuttered. Naturally, I'm not a mind reader... But I can somewhat tell. So how I understand it; Don't laugh when I'm in the room with someone. But it's okay to feel the way I feel about others stuttering, as it never comes from a bad intention.
