How to approach my 8 year old about her stutter Hi there. I’m a mom with an 8 year old daughter who’s had issues with her speech since she was 4 years old. It started with prolongation of the letter ‘n’ before each word. We got her into speech therapy right away and she no longer does that. She also needed therapy to help her learn how to make certain letter sounds. She then started repeating whole words which has now progressed to repeating the first letter of many words. She hasn’t been in speech therapy for a year and I’m thinking that maybe she needs it again. But I don’t know how to approach her with the idea. I’m afraid that bringing attention to it will make her more self conscious. She’s already very shy. I don’t want to make her feel bad. She’s already worked so hard to overcome the other “bumps”. Any suggestions on how I can handle this with her?
