Stutter during Piano Lesson So I had a piano lesson this morning and my teacher, who is brilliant, always uses analogies and demonstrations to help explain what he means. So in order to tell me to close the gaps between notes in my playing, he likened piano to speech. He spoke in broken English, saying each word after a short pause and in different volumes. As someone who loves cracking jokes I wanted to tell him he sounded like William Shatner. But as with most stutterers, I couldn't get the "W" out. So I awkwardly said: "Like.... (Awkward pause trying to say William)....Kirk. (slightly defeated) Like Captain Kirk." He got the reference, but my stutter made it seem like I wanted to say something more important, when I just wanted to make a quick humourous observation. I see it as funny now, thinking back at it as I don't really mind my stutter, but I love making little observation jokes about stuff people say and that's the only time my stutter bothers me.
