I guess redheads could say the same, people with freckles etc. A few dozen years ago it used to be that women with dark skin were frowned upon, and women with really fair skin were popular, so much so that women hated their own skin and would stay indoors on sunny days. It's the other way round now, with women getting fake tans etc. I guess what I'm saying is that one's perception of oneself depends a lot on how society sees them.
