I just texted him this subreddit and he told me to say this (he doesn't do reddit): "ASL has opened many doors for me not just as a communicator but also in my career. I teach fine art at a deaf school, as well as a at a Vocational Rehabilitation Center. I was able to get a really good job straight out of school and worked for the UN as a translator, travelled around the world, met many really cool people and had really good experiences. I have never looked for a job or even had an interview because people just approach me and I often have to say no to work. I also met (my wife) doing this and have access to a community of people who are not bellends- mostly. I have even done work on a ASL dictionary. And my syntax is not bizarre. You are." Let me add he is only 37 years old. Now I want to learn ASL.
