stuttering speech therapist here with regard to working with other stutterers it has only been beneficial in my rapport with them. This has also been true with other communication disorders. The only time stuttering has negatively affected my ability to do my job is when I'm working with a client who has a receptive communication disorder. They're already experiencing breakdown in their ability to interpret speech, adding stuttering makes it more difficult. Just a side note. You subtly implied that a stuttering speech pathologist can't be a good speech pathologist because he "can't fix his own speech impediment" ... something I think would be an interesting discussion in it's own right is: what does "recovery" mean? My guess is that there's not one consistent definition of what that means. edit: spelling
