This happens to me too, something that helps is to know what words you are going to stutter on. For example, when you said "good thanks, how was your day?" and you know you are going to stutter on "how" maybe substitute "how was your day" to just "you?" so you would've said "good thanks, you?" Hopefully without stuttering if that makes sense.
