From what i have heard from others who stutter it does seem to help a great deal. At the very least it seemed to help people come to terms with their stuttering. And just own who they are. My stutter is pretty mild, and i can speak for relatively long periods of time , without too many blocks. Tbh i cannot really say it has helped me much. For some reason whenever i would go, my stutter would not be as strong. I think i felt comfortable talking to a person who already knows what i am dealing with and therefore every time I went to see my speech therapist. i barely stuttered. Which i think surprised her and maybe made it difficult for her to know how to help me. I would tell her i found x word difficult but in her office i had no problem saying that word and could say it many times over without a problem. So many of our sessions where less focused on the practical side of speech Therapy and more on the theoretical side, like "what would you do if were to stutter while saying this word? What technique could be helpful in x situation?" And so on. So for me i would say therapy directed towards my lack of confidence and social anxiety helped me better. The more confident i feel in myself, the more fluency i tend to have in a conversation. if you ask me i would say you should give speech Therapy atleast a shot. You are also not doomed either. Just because you have a stutter does not mean you cant achieve your goals. You can. You may not believe it now, but you can.
