The only thing it may prove is that it's possible for some people to stutter without actually having the genetics for it. This is really bad science. And like some people have said in this thread as well, these kind of posts really bother me, because it reduces stuttering to a bad habit or to something minor that can easily be 'cured'. Yes, stuttering is not a 100% neurological defect and other factors play a role, but there's no scientific evidence to back up anything more than that. Edit: I just read the wikipedia article about the Monster Study and it sure is interesting, but I quote: "On 17 August 2007, six of the orphan children were awarded a total of $925,000 by the State of Iowa for lifelong psychological and emotional scars caused by six months of torment during the Iowa University experiment. The study learned that although none of the children became stutterers, some became self-conscious and reluctant to speak."
