As an SLP I do have to caution you that they tend to not work long term. However they are a good tool and are a good option to have, especially if you want to save it for special occasions. The science behind DAF isn't BS, but how long the effects last are different from person to person. There is no harm in trying it out though. Also, your mom doesn't have the last say in what you do with your speech. You have a choice. I wish more of my patient's parents understood that there is no true simple "fix" for stuttering, and that not making a big deal out of it is sometimes the best option. No one deserves to have extra pressure or anxiety placed on them like that.
