IT guy in the United States Space Force. Just transferred over from the Air Force this past Thursday, so I'm pretty excited :-D. Anyway, I focus on my breathing when I'm having a bad day. I've found that If I can manage to consistently breathe deeply for around a minute or so, then I can usually improve my speech if I focus hard on it. Sometimes though, for whatever reason, I just can't manage a really deep breath. In those instances there's usually not a whole lot I can do, but it only lasts for a couple days tops.
