As an ordinary person, I wonder? When you're speaking and your mind and tongue decide to interrupt you by pausing and stammering, what do you want your listeners to do? Complete silence, or to say phrases like... "Take your time." I prefer silence at that moment. I'm not in a hurry; take your time to think. But I won't say that and add to your anxiety. I'm focusing on the words themselves, not the stuttering. But why not ask? I'm sure I'll learn something from you.
