This happened to be a long time ago. The top comment seems to have it. We are so resistant (afraid) to stutter that we can't even show it anymore. The harder we try to cover it up the more severe it becomes and you can trust me on that. It's really good you were observant enough to see the change. Everything I hear is that the only way to combat this (and it really does need to be addressed or the problem will become harder to solve) is to confront it. Slowly let yourself stutter more and try to resist the urge to hide all stuttering and block. If you start to block, stutter through the block. two things: This is all much easier with the help of a trained professional, one that is experienced with avoidance reduction and things like that. Blocking is a form of stuttering avoidance. The second thing and this is very important, start slow and start in the lowest stress situations (parents, friends, etc..). If you try to go too high too quickly you'll likely crash and become disheartened. it's not easy and support isn't just helpful, i believe it's crucial.
