They should educate themselves (about the condition of their kid). ;) >It seems like I have my good days and bad days. Absolutely. These things can come and go (which applies to stutter in general). I've had a recurring grievance over the years with 's', but other letters can surface as well. And sometimes they're not a problem at all. Have you tried visiting a speech therapist? There are techniques you could try to help you with stuff like this.
