Very true! If someones first reaction to my stammer is to laugh, I usually reply with saying 'I have a stammer, why when you hear me stammer, the first thing you do is laugh?' Usually makes them feel a bit guilty and ashamed, which im fine with. A stammer can be a filter, showing you who is respectful and who isnt.
