Yes, I'm an SLP, seconding this. For reference, Medicare pays SLPs roughly $85/visit, which is 30-45 minutes at most general clinics. For a private specialist, I would say $120-$175/hour is reasonable. Geography plays a big role too; I've seen starting rates of $200/hour in California, whereas you might be able to find as low as $75 in parts of the Midwest. It IS expensive, and we hate it. The especially frustrating thing is that after taxes and processing costs and liability insurance and whatnot, we don't take home nearly that amount. I met an SLP once who had a very boutique solo practice doing a very specialized service, and she described this as, "I couldn't afford to see myself." It's a doom loop where most people who need the service can't afford it without some kind of funding (insurance, sliding scale, etc.), but the people who provide the service can't afford to live if we discount it to an accessible rate.  I have no answers, just confirming that yes that cost is normal, and it sucks.
