How were you best supported/How could you have been better supported?

How were you best supported/How could you have been better supported? Hi everyone, I typed out a long post and then realized you didn’t need every detail of my son’s journey this far so I decided to get straight to it so that hopefully more people will read and respond. The condensed version is that it is looking likely that my four year old son’s stutter is not developmental. I am already doing the basics (eye contact, calm environment, not interrupting/rushing, etc.) We are on the wait list for a SLP I found through westutter.org My question for all of you is, what did your parents do to support you that you feel helped you the most? For those of you who maybe did not feel well supported, what do you wish your mom/dad had done differently? I know this is ultimately his journey and that I cannot protect him from the cruelty of this world, however, I want to do anything and everything in my power to ensure he feels loved and supported while he finds his way.
