Thoughts/experiences with "Speech Anxiety Anonymous" (SAA) Hi everyone, I recently came across a website titled SAA and read testimonials of the program's efficacy in "curing" stuttering. I don't believe in this rhetoric as I don't think theres a cure (at least not for developmental or neurogenic stuttering), nor do I think it's helpful to try and find one. I've recently started accepting my stutter as a part of who I am and living with it as opposed to trying my hardest to minimize it. And so far it's going okay! To me, this is much more healthy mental health-wise. Anyways, has anyone here gone through SAA's coaching program or read any of the books from the creator (Lee G. Lovette)? I'm tempted to sign up as I don't see any initial harm in talking to others with stuttering experience and getting some tips on dealing with it, but it all seems very "100% CURED OR YOUR MONEY BACK GUARANTEED!". They also ask for a lot of personal information before setting up skype meetings which rubs me the wrong way. I'm tempted to purchase his book too, but if it's focused on only reducing stuttering severity with nothing on how to process negative beliefs/cognitions around the stutter, I don't think I'd be all that interested. To be clear I'm not trying to bash on anyone who is trying to reduce their stutter/cure it. I think we all have our goals and motivations! Just trying to get a grasp on what kind of content these types of content hold.
