I have two kids. Neither of them stutter. As DP82 said they don't care and I also stutter less with them. The evidence that stuttering may be genetic is tenuous at best. From what I've read one may be slightly more genetically predisposed to it but it isn't a sure bet by a long shot. 75% of kids between 3 & 5 develop a stutter at some point. Over 99% outgrow it. No one else that we know of in my family tree had a stutter. I firmly believe that I continued to stutter because my mother freaked out about it and jammed me in speech therapy. I distinctly remember her stressing me out over it. A sense of shame and a feeling of abnormality came with that. One that has followed me through life and only worsened my speech.
