Even with a written down order, I just hate using the phone so much. So I actually do make a point of ordering in person. Still, I avoid any food that I would want to give special instructions on. If it comes with Lettuce, I'll just not order it to avoid having to say "Hold the lettuce." At sit down places, I'll often be sure to point at the item I want in the menu, as well, just in case I have trouble saying it.
