I agree to still do them (if you can handle it, it sounds like you've had a rough time of things). However, if you're graded on your speaking skills, you should opt out. As for practice makes perfect, you are absolutely right that specific kinds of practice are much better than nonspecific. Everything does help, but, oddly, if you can get more minor presentations in, you may become *more* comfortable. Dep/anx stutterer here working at a call center. When I started, I did only off-phone work, but everyone has to take calls during busy times. Eventually they started putting everyone on scheduled phone work, and it was only at that point that I eventually was able to get through the opener. Yeah, the opener. It was rough for a while, haha. I was lucky enough to have a boss that emphasized that the person on the other end was not entitled to speak with someone without a speech impediment, or an accent, or an especially nasal voice... they can't specify those things, because that would be stupid. Same thing goes for your presentations, as long as your instructors aren't grading you on it.
