I just got back from Japan. I wouldn’t say I’m fluent but I was able to talk to a lot of people. Being forced to talk to people a lot especially not in my mother tongue was very anxiety inducing and I already have a lot of anxiety when it comes to speaking in general. Most of the time I don’t stutter it’s just how anxious I feel that determines it. I actually stopped stuttering as much since I’ve been to Japan cuz it forced me to talk to people to make friends, but stuff, ask for directions. Like I just feel less anxious overall and therefore less stuttering cuz I had that experience. By the end of the two weeks I felt really comfortable talking to people etc and I think that’s carried over to the US.
