Stuttering is highly variable and inconsistent, which makes it all the more curious. If a person logs their days in a fluency journal these variations can be noted to swing hour to hour, day to day, and situational too. Often there’s an uncanny internal feeling about the person you’re speaking with that sets a vibe of acceptance or rejection. Any sense of rejection or some perceived attitude can make speaking more difficult. It’s a self-conscious war that makes speaking more difficult with is THIS person. What’s weird is that this can be a false perception. That’s why people as authority figures are often more difficult to speak with. This includes moms and dads, yep sibs, teachers, cops, etc. Sooooo…when is your next date with this terrific person??
