In your own stutter experience, what happens right before your stutter?

In your own stutter experience, what happens right before your stutter? For me there are three components: the speaking component; the self-imposed demands (high expectation/need to increase or reduce muscle tension — which the subconscious matches against a poorly refined execution threshold); and the initiation signal. The stutter cycle could then look like this: **Cycle:** (1) I send the initiation signal to my brain. (2) My brain compares the high expectation with the self-imposed execution threshold to execute the speech plan. (3) If that comparison detects a mismatch or problem, the speech plan/program is suppressed or delayed — at least until the brain’s internal monitoring system (the “inner judge”) resolves the mismatch \[on a subconscious perception level\]. **Conclusion:** So: What happens first before we stutter? I argue that anticipation of a mismatch comes first — often nonconscious — and this triggers an approach–avoidance conflict (BLA-amygdala-mediated) that leads to stuttering-like disfluencies, frequently without conscious awareness of their approach-avoidance conflict being triggered by a nonconscious mismatch that needs to be avoided — before the brain allows execution of the speech plan. This is just my own take on it https://preview.redd.it/4yipbg8i14wf1.png?width=3920&format=png&auto=webp&s=d0641a565456618be70598d7e1b5571b8917b149
