I think nearly all stutterers have trouble with their name. I have an event tonight where they make you go around the room and introduce yourself (thankfully first name only). I normally avoid this event so I won't have to do this, but I decided to take a chance and attend tonight. I've been dreading it all week. Sometimes I'll create "a distraction," such as "Hi everyone, I'm (insert name)" instead of just saying my name like everyone else does. Not starting cold with my name is easier. It stinks that such a simple thing for everyone else can cause such anxiety, and potentially be extremely embarrassing, for us.
