I grew up with a stutter and still occasionally "chew on my words" , I now am bless to be a father of a child with a massive stutter, mostly consisting of blocking. My child is not his stutter, he is unconditionally loved and, we work together on it. I never grow impatient(by the grace of God), and am genuinely excited for his words to arrive. We enjoy playing speech games, and I love when his mind enters into the zone of proximal development, and he reads, out loud, beautifully. This morning we did our out loud reading on our back porch swing. He was reading "diary of a wimpy kid" and did two whole paragraphs beautifully! Then, the hummingbirds decided it was time for breakfast and swarmed our feeders (his idea to buy, I love it). This caused some blocking- no big deal, so we made breakfast of our own together, laughing about the character "Roderick ". This is the good stuff.
