Methylphenidate helped me to accept my stutter and become more socially active and outgoing I have ADHD and a stutter since childhood. Growing up with a stutter was, as it's obvious, not nice. I was deathly scared of social situations because of my stutter and due to this I developed crippling anxiety. I avoided all social situations which led to me having 0 friends in school. I hated myself, asking God why me? What crimes did I do in my past life that he put this curse on me! I tried to commit suicide many times but didn't have the courage to do the process. College passed during COVID which was a gift from God. No interactions, no anxiety. Since school I was in deep depression because my grades were declining with each successive semester and no amount of hardwork seemed to work. I had poor grades in school too but thought other kids must be prodigies which made them achievers in every field they went. The same thing happened in college and that's when I seriously pondered that are there that many prodigies or something is wrong with me. So I visited a psychiatrist with my parents and based on the interview with me and my parents, the psychiatrist immediately diagnosed me with ADHD. No need for tests. He said I was a textbook case of ADHD and proceeded to prescribe MPH. This where MPH showed it's magic. I became more social and outgoing and started making small talks with people like asking how are you etc. But the biggest positive effect MPH brought was I started accepting my stutter and I have to live with it. There was some inner voice telling me that I can't stay isolated in my room for the rest of life and gave me the push to get out and do something to overcome my fears, and I think it's doing a pretty good job till now. I am also smiling more and whenever I get stuck on any word I just say "Sorry, I have a stutter" and smile. It helps me in lowering my anxiety. So that's it, one unique story from my life. Hope this helps. PS: MPH also improved my concentration and attention but for me accepting my stutter is bigger achievement than everything else
