While about 5% of children age 2 to 5 stutter, 80% of them spontaneously recover. That's probably why the pediatrician is telling you to wait. What I'm saying is that it's a matter of *risk*. It's not guaranteed to be a problem, but a 20% chance is nothing to dismiss, given the repercussions.
