I was echoing the theory presented by Dr. Joseph Sheehan, one of the most respected SLPs out there. I personally agree with what he says and think it's correct, at least for most stutterers. I probably didn't explain it too great, but I do think the cause is the approach avoidance conflict that Sheehan discussed.
