I also stutter around my dad more than any of my family members. It is because he criticized me about improving. it was just very hard to talk to him because he wouldn’t understand what I was saying because of all the blocks and the whole situation just got very awkward and scary. One thing that helped my dad change the perspective on stuttering is through a proper educational session with speech therapy. He got to know the causes, treatment plans and the feelings towards stuttering, which made him become so supportive of me. I do still stutter around him but the whole situation doesn’t get bad like it used to before because he’s understanding.
