Loud music has a different effect per invidual stutterer (it can increase or decrease stuttering). Myth or fact? I think that we can all agree that loud music in the background, when having a telephone call, can increase stuttering (or reduce stuttering) which likely varies from person to person. But not just from person to person. Because the same person can increasingly stutter more when there is music in the background one moment, and one evening later, or one week or one year later this can switch where music results in much less stuttering. I've experienced this with music and many other factors/cues/stimuli. The question is then: Such conditioning. How can we fine-tune it so that it works in our favor? And how can we extinguish maladaptive conditioning so that we reach a phase closer to early onset stuttering or even stuttering remission? Your thoughts?
