My three year old Hi all, hope everyone is well. I really don’t really know what to say here, but perhaps looking for some advice. Some do’s, some do nots. This sub seems to be full of positivity and I’m sorry to bring the tone down but I am a bit emotional at the moment and dealing with something I have no experience with. Quite frankly I’m scared. I’m a father of two boys. My eldest is 3 and a half, he has always had a vocabulary beyond his age and able to eloquently articulate himself and recite little books etc. Within the space of 2 weeks, his language has nosedived and he has started stuttering. He seems to have good days and bad days, and on bad days he is struggling to get almost every word in a sentence out. Sometimes stuttering 5-10 times on each word. Last night, he became frustrated while trying to get his words out, stopped what he was trying to say, and told me that he “cannot remember words” which I’m assuming is simply how he is describing the difficulties in getting words out. And it broke me that he is aware of what’s going on. We’ve seen the GP today who was not concerned of anything physical. He has forwarded us on to “chatterbox” in the uk, a council run place to promote kids speech so we’ll go from there. I don’t know if I’m asking for advice or just offloading right now. But either way, I needed to share this. I’m head over heels in love with my boy and will support him through thick and thin. If anyone knows what I should do to support him, if you have been in a similar situation as a parent or as a kid. I’d appreciate any advice on what i should/shouldnt do.
