stuttering isn't caused by anxiety. it's a communication disorder that for most people is neuro-motor in nature and has a large genetic component. It isn't caused by anxiety. If it was, we'd see a lot more stutterers out there. Anxiety just exacerbates it. If your therapist says it's caused by axiety, i recommend you find a new slp. you definitely have the right idea about the vicious cycle. the chapter leader of my nsa support group has a customer service phone job and she stutters quite frequently. I won't lie to you and tell you it's easy for her, but she does her best not to spend too much energy trying so hard to not stutter, and instead she just focuses on getting the information across. If there are blocks and repetitions, so be it. Her company knew she stuttered when they hired her and your uncle knows you stutter as well. If you focus on your content, that could help take some of the focus/worry off your speech and make the experience a little less painful.
