What do I do? I practice. I act out a skit similar to whatever situation I'm going to encounter. If it's a phone interview I write out questions I anticipate and then I write the answer. I then read and speak out loud the answer as if I was just asked the question. Then, 10 minutes before my phone interview, I lay down in a calm quiet place and repeat self-encouraging mantras, "They want to hire me." "I am going to get this job." "I am qualified for this job." "I can do this job." "I will be clear and concise in my interview." "I will directly answer the questions." In short, practicing makes me less nervous and if I'm less nervous I am less likely to stutter. But honestly, sometimes my stutter does whatever the fuck it wants whenever it wants without rhyme or reason. Once, when I was 31, I was fluent for 3 whole months. It was glorious, and then sad to see it all fade away as my stutter slowly returned. I sometimes wish I never experienced fluency because I fear I will chase it.
