When I was very young, my stutter was so bad. This boy my age and I were BFFs basically and from what my mom told me he would "translate" what I say to our other classmates until I told him to stop one day. It has gotten better since then and now I'm somewhat mostly fluent, but I still struggle at times and if I have to do presentations or I'm learning a foreign language, it is obvious. The good news is that when I'm learning Japanese, I will keep shadow-speaking (talking over) to learn the pronunciation which is also helping me speak more fluently. If the room is noisy or I'm stressed, etc., it can be challenging.
