>When I stutter when talking I usually go, "Hi my name is um, umm, um, uhh, uhh, um, gravitycloudfilms, and during this i'm usually bouncing up and down or moving some part of my body in a repetitive motion(such as my arm) to try to stop the stuttering, which only builds up more anxiety and makes it worse. Usually at this point the person may be looking at me funny like "wtf are you doing?". EXACTLY!!!! Today I was talking to a foreign exchange student in my class and she asked me my name. I said, " Um, um, um, um, um, sorry (was going to try to explain I have a stutter but then I decided not to as I could feel it getting worse), um, um, um sioux4 (this was only after someone in our group said my name)." And then they all thought I had forgotten my name, so I had to explain that no, I did not forget it but rather I had a stutter. Similar thing happened at lunch when I asked for permission to go to my locker. "my, umm, um, um, um, um, locker (only after he asked if that's what I meant),". THEN (yep, there's more! :/ ) I met with a representative today from a college I'm interested in. Guess what!? I couldn't say my name. I kept saying um, explained that I have a "umm, um, stutter-- and so I say um a lot! (trying to lighten up the situation... )" Eventually, after a few more ums I got my name out. I have a small group presentation tomorrow... I really don't want to go; seriously thinking about skipping. TLDR; Yes, it happens to me all the time. EDIT: Just scrolling through comments, realized I'd already posted on here awhile back... oh well!
