Hi there. She is doing ok. She has made a lot of progress already working with a speech pathologist who has experience with stuttering or disfluency. We are lucky though, she attends a county run early education center so they have these resources and meets every week for her IEP. She has moved past the freezing up and “losing her voice” but she still has issues with delays and saying “um” quite a bit. She has become so much more social and approaches kids now since she has the confidence. That’s the big thing, so early intervention is key. Please don’t wait for it to “ get better “. It won’t and we have seen her come out of her shell and it’s amazing. She has work to do still but the strides taken have been immense and so helpful. Things to remember are to always stay engaged when she is having trouble and allowing her to finish and not finishing sentences for her. Also talking to friends and family about it and making sure they know how to react to it. My dad is great but his reactions made her very self conscious, so we just made sure he knew what to do in those situations. Happy to chat about it more. DM me.
