Everyone’s experience with speech therapy is a little different because it really depends on what you and your therapist work on together. For many people who stutter, therapy helps them reduce tension, build confidence, and work through the anxiety that often comes with speaking situations. Some people notice progress fairly quickly, while for others it’s more gradual. The key is to go in with an open mind and communicate with your therapist about your goals whether that’s smoother speech, feeling less anxious, or both. Also, it’s totally normal for stuttering to fluctuate, and therapy can give you tools to navigate that better.
