I would use this workaround very sparingly. Of course, it's easier to do at events where alcohol is expected to be consumed (gamedays, parties, etc.) but it's a fine line to tread if you're giving a class presentation. My dad is a professor and he would even advise some students who were nervous to take just one shot before a test (he's old school haha) but sooner or later, someone might find out and you will have explaining to do. A sympathetic professor would surely understand but some might be hardasses about it and kick you out of the class. If there is one thing I regret from college (15 years later) is not taking advantage of the resources available. I would reach out to campus services or even the speech pathology department if you have one. Heck, even a class on public speaking might help.
