Ugh, I know the feeling. I always thought they were embarrassed by me, so since then I stopped introducing myself to people. I let them interact with me first. Don't do that, because of this mindset I am more introvert and have low self esteem, insecure approaching people. My advice is to let that jerk alone and approach someone else.
