Interesting experiences with methylphenidate and adderall Hey guys. So I have a mild to moderate stutter. A friend of mine has prescriptions for various ADHD prescriptions and I tried two of his. The first was methylphenidate. I only tried it for a day (his supplies are limited) but from my subjective assessments I’d say my fluency went from 70 to 95%. My social anxiety was gone and conversations were seamless. Words just flew out of my mouth. The next three days I tried adderall. The difference was not as pronounced as my first day on methylphenidate, but I’d say it still improved my fluency by at least 10%. However, here’s the problem. The next days after I stopped taking either, my fluency seemed to be worse than normal. Like some sort of rebound effect. Also, I should mentioned there are various side effects I didn’t mention. On my first day on methylphenidate in particular, I had zero appetite and barely slept. To be fair, it was an extended release formulation, and my body probably didn’t have time to adjust to it. Similar side effects with adderall, just less in severity, however the improvements in speech were not as strong as methylphenidate. All in all, even though the rebound effect is very concerning, I will try to get prescriptions of my own so I can experiment more.
