Hi, I know I’m 3 years late to the party. I was just diagnosed with TMD and I’ve had a stutter for almost 30 years, so I can relate. My jaw pain started suddenly and was confusing at first — I thought it was a dental issue. I’ve noticed my stutter and facial tension definitely contribute to jaw tightness, so “hidden” TMJ dysfunction makes sense. I wouldn’t try pressing on the joint at home — it can make things worse. But massage, physiotherapy, and muscle relaxants would be helpful for sure. TMD can be subtle and linked to tension or stress, even if it’s not obvious at first.
