The best speech therapist I ever had was a stutterer too. It was great to see him use the techniques that he was teaching me at the time. Yes, there were some days when one of us would be less fluent due to outside stresses or a lack of recent practice, but rather than it being "ironic," it felt more bonding, like we were in this together. And we were always there to help each other through (though him helping me was definitely more common). Admittedly, I may have a unique case, as my speech therapist was only a few years my elder, and our relationship turned from one of professional necessity to one of mentor, student, and brotherhood.
