Yes. If it wasn't a dis-fluency issue it could be something else. But playing the games of what ifs doesn't do anything. Also, I injected some of my own personal experiences...I didn't say it applies to all. Some people develop these additional issues because of stuttering. Depression and anxiety developed..why? What is the thing that caused this? Stuttering. What I am saying is that stuttering can branch off into other issues. Again, playing the game of "If it wasn't stuttering, it'll just be something else!" doesn't do one single thing. I'm not saying that this applies to everyone but it certainly applies to some. For me, stuttering certainly is the root cause for depression/anxiety. As humans everything we do involves communication. Expressing ourselves through communication is an integral part of life. When someone cannot do this effectively it doesn't take a genius to understand that this can have profound psychological affects on the individual. This is why depression and anxiety develops in some stutterers.
