It depends on the person, some of my friends make jokes because we’ve talked about it before and I’m comfortable with it. If someone who doesn’t know I have a speech impediment makes a joke... I just kindly let them know that I have a speech impediment and to please not make the joke again. This one kid kept making jokes about it over and over again even after I told him to stop, so eventually I told him to shut the f*ck up in front of everyone and that shut him down. I also find that people make and same old boring jokes... mostly just imitating my stutter. Like if you’re going to make a joke about my stuttering at least be creative about it lmao. People just go for cheap laughs.
