The maladjusted fine-tuning of our speech execution may arise when an individual loses the neurological and psychological balance in the speech process. Specifically, responses to stimuli—such as social pressure, fear of making a mistake during speech, or anxiety about stumbling over a word—may become exaggerated or insufficient, leading to a disruption in this balance. This is true, but as I mentioned above, when I used tricyclic antidepressants for OCD, stuttering continued even though I couldn't think of anything.
