I'm glad you're asking this! :) Honestly, just the fact that you care enough to find out more is a lot. If you are this proactive and understanding with him, I imagine he already feels less pressure. ​ The most important thing for me is that I'm not interrupted, and my husband doesn't try to finish my sentence for me. Lots of people try to finish my sentences when I stutter because they think it will help me, but it just makes me feel like there's now an added time pressure. And if they get the sentence or word wrong and it isn't the word I have in mind, I then feel even more pressure to force out the correct word. Patience is key, I find. ​ Sometimes, I actually want him to finish a word... we've been together 8 years, and he knows when I look at him and sort of widen my eyes and nod, that I want him to finish it. Sometimes he says "sorry, I don't know where you're going with this one," but most of the time he knows it!
